About the Course

The Mummy MOT^® Practitioner Course is an intensive two-day training programme designed for physiotherapists, osteopaths, midwives, and doctors experienced in postnatal women’s health. Created by Maria Elliott, this course equips healthcare professionals to deliver the original and most trusted postnatal assessment in the UK.

You’ll learn how to conduct the comprehensive Mummy MOT^® check, assessing pelvic alignment, abdominal separation, and pelvic floor function, and create tailored recovery plans that support women’s physical rehabilitation after childbirth. The training fills a critical gap in postnatal care and empowers you to deliver expert, restorative care with confidence.

Mummy MOT® for Professionals

The Mummy MOT® offers a comprehensive, evidence-based training course designed for health and fitness professionals who want to specialise in postnatal care. This expert-led programme equips you with the knowledge, clinical tools, and assessment skills needed to support mums in their recovery journey, and on successful completion, you’ll gain official Mummy MOT® accreditation, joining a trusted and fast-growing network of certified practitioners.

Curriculum

Across two immersive days, you’ll be trained to:

• Conduct a full postnatal MSK, abdominal and pelvic floor assessment
• Identify and address conditions such as:
  • Diastasis Recti (tummy gap)
  • Pelvic Organ Prolapse (POP)
  • Urinary and Faecal Incontinence
  • C-section scar sensitivity
• Assess posture, functional movement, and pelvic alignment
• Confidently carry out internal and external pelvic floor examinations
• Create bespoke recovery and exercise programmes
• Understand referral pathways and patient education

Pre-requisites

We do accept physiotherapists, osteopaths, and midwives on our Mummy MOT Training. We do require all participants to also have experience in women’s health, postnatal patients, and we have clear prerequisites that require all participants to;

• Have experience in performing a pelvic floor assessment.
• Be comfortable and competent in performing a basic vaginal examination.

If you do not have experience in internal examinations, we run a Pelvic Floor Assessment Course. The course is run by Maria (CEO and Founder, The Mummy MOT) and Kate Walsh. This course is designed to give an overview of the internal and external anatomy of the female pelvic floor and lumbopelvic hip complex. By working our way from the “outside inwards”, it will guide practitioners through systematic assessment of the pelvic floor both externally and internally, relating this to the functional anatomy and physiology relevant to conditions seen in the post-natal client.

You can complete our Pelvic Floor Assessment course before or after your Mummy MOT training.
