Mummy MOT® Training Tutor
LinkedIn
Kate has gained extensive experience as a specialist physiotherapist in the field of pelvic health for 20 years within Merseyside and London.
She works both privately and in the NHS, having recently been appointed as Physiotherapy Manager and clinical lead at The Women’s Hospital, Liverpool.
She combines her clinical role with teaching, lecturing on the undergraduate physiotherapy course at The University Of Liverpool and the post-graduate (Masters level) course at The University of Bradford. She is also a tutor for the POGP on their anorectal assessment/dysfunction course and the advanced management of complex pelvic pain course. Kate works closely with the Mummy MOT team and regularly assists during the training weekends. She also runs introductory day courses in the vaginal assessment of the pelvic floor complex and anorectal examination for MEPS and is currently looking at developing further courses.
Teaching ensures that Kate’s clinical practice is both up to date and evidence-based, whilst her clinical role allows her teaching to be relevant to current clinical practice.
She is regularly invited to speak at national meetings and takes every opportunity to raise awareness of the importance of pelvic health within both the professional and public communities.
Her clinical caseload covers a broad spectrum of pelvic health and she has a special interest in functional bowel disorders, post-natal recovery, and complex pelvic pain. She is a strong believer in the benefits of holistic management, treating the pelvis as a whole and not compartmentalising symptoms; recognising this as key to improved functional outcomes across the board for all patients.
Alexandra Antoniou MCSP
Senior Specialist Physiotherapist in Women’s Health and Visceral Therapy – Mummy MOT® Training Tutor
LinkedIn
I qualified in 2006 and within a year I went into private practice work which quite hastily took me into the world of Visceral therapy. Having had a visceral issue, myself, and being treated for it with hands-on therapy, I soon realised we had a whole realm of internal organs and the diaphragm to consider within our treatments! I soon found more and more clients with Endometriosis and women’s health issues were benefiting from the Visceral therapy, so this led me nicely into the world of Women’s Health! Now I teach Visceral therapy courses and tutor alongside María Elliott on Mummy MOT® practitioner training days.
I have a great team at my clinic, ANA therapies, which is located over 2 sites within Gravesend and Meopham in Kent. As a team, we are a combination of Physiotherapists, Osteopaths, and Sports therapists. We specialise in Women’s Health and Visceral therapy as well as musculoskeletal, therefore when we treat, we adopt a very holistic approach, treating the client as a whole.
I’m very passionate about what I do and hence treat a lot of complex cases to do with women’s health, musculoskeletal issues, and even fertility. I’ll always look at the client’s overall presentation to help assess what’s needed for their best outcome and recommend anything nutritionally or alternative therapy-wise that they may benefit from.
